This is very helpful to someone like me who would almost sell their soul to fly the globe and attend fashion weeks but realistically, has no bloody chance to do so. I will make note of these things and one day it will be very helpful.

Especially that ‘spotting a celebrity’ tip.

Yesterday, I started saving some of the photos from this site to my ‘future inspiration’ folder. (Let me interject myself and make mention that the 2012 version of this folder is 47 MB. I have an additional inspirations folder with no date that is 2.93 GB. Then I also have the 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008 folders. And the “graphic design ideas” folder. And there are some more folders but I need to stop with the details because I am feeling my inner-hoarder come out and my inner-neat-freak freaking out!) Safe to say, I have been saving gorgeous little things to aid future fashion collections for a long, long time. I am swimming, nay, drowning, in inspiration. That doesn’t mean I have enough, of course. One can always use more, which brings us to the current story at hand: I started saving some of the photos from this site to my ‘future inspiration’ folder. Initially, I grabbed the image you are seeing on top. What a wonderful idea… “strong, hard, and barely-permeable” melting into a gooey mess. Then I grabbed another. Then I was out of control.

Carl Kleiner is an incredible photographer. Despite the subject matter, all of his images are candy-coated, marker-coloured magic. There is whimsy and abstraction and edge all at the same time.

Barbie has paved the way for women into many industries; politics, medicine, aeronautics, teaching and finally, the world of design. Okay - but truly, I do love the idea of ‘obscure career Barbie’ and considering some of her jobs (UNICEF summit diplomat, cat burglar, sign language teacher and Canadian mountie)… architect seems natural and commonplace.

Then I saw Architect Barbie.

Who did this to her? Was she drunk when she got dressed for work? I thought she was a fashion ICON (as in at the forefront, not dragging the bad, early 2000’s into the workplace). I get the boots being heeled even though she wouldn’t be allowed near a worksite, fantastic logo’d hardhat or not, but that contrast stitch jacket hurts. Cowgirl/architect?

All that being said, I can say thank GOD for those glasses. How would she be “smart” without her glasses??
